On April 23, 2025, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the Southern Fulton High School Class of 2025 to our campus for a behind-the-scenes look at what we do here at Mellott. This visit marks the 18th consecutive year of this meaningful tradition—part of a partnership with the Southern Fulton School District that dates all the way back to 1993.
Every year, this event provides graduating seniors with a unique opportunity to explore our facilities, interact with our team, and gain real-world insight into the career opportunities that exist right in their backyard. From touring our shops to engaging in mock interviews with Mellott employees, these students got a firsthand look at the skills and professionalism that drive our work every day.
The day was coordinated by our very own Leslie Caldwell, executive assistant, who shared her reflections on the event:
“Yesterday, SFHS seniors toured our campus for the 18th year! I’m sincerely blessed to have such a committed team by my side to help make this another successful year. Many roles were filled by presenting, interviewing, and leading students from station to station. The Mellott/SF partnership began 32 years ago. This year, Paul Mellott surprised us with a special guest, Todd Hoffner. Todd was a highly respected teacher who was able to connect with past students who now work for Mellott. It was clear mutual affections were present! Sunshine + beautiful weather = perfect day! :)”
Indeed, the weather couldn’t have been better, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement, curiosity, and community spirit. Having Todd Hoffner, a beloved educator who, along with Paul Mellott Jr. helped get the program started, join the event added a meaningful touch, bridging generations and reminding us how deep our local roots truly run.
Below is feedback we received from some of the senior class and school staff:
“I sat through Dave Coleman and Les Morris’s presentation around 4 times. They did such a great job telling students the various levels of education needed for jobs. They also explained how the future was in their hands as far as they wanted to take whatever career they chose. I also liked how they talked about being financially responsible with the money they do make.” – Wendy Ritz, Southern Fulton High School Counselor.
“Coming to Mellott’s was an eye-opening experience, I enjoyed getting to see the different parts of the mechanical work including, the Fabrication shop, learning about the IT and engineering fields for Mellott, as well as the repair shop.”
“I felt that the experience was quite enjoyable being able to see some of the different parts of the company. I liked seeing some of the different areas while they were working and being able to get insight on what the different areas do for the company to keep it running smoothly.
“I personally thought the repair shop was the most interesting area that we got to see on Wednesday April 23 most likely because I enjoy taking things apart.”
“I enjoyed touring the facility and looking at the manufacture building and seeing all of the gigantic tools and pieces that were being made. Everyone had a comfortable and welcoming energy about them and it definitely made the experience better.”
“It got me interested in joining the parts & services department.”
We’re proud of our ongoing relationship with the Southern Fulton School District and grateful for the opportunity to help shape the next generation of professionals. Whether students leave inspired to pursue a career in manufacturing, engineering, administration, or another field entirely, we hope they left with a stronger sense of confidence and possibility.
Here’s to another great year and many more to come!
